Blues forward Andy McDonald has a concussion and will be out indefinitely, according to Blues Head Coach Davis Payne.
Payne made the announcement to members of the media following Tuesday’s practice at the Ice Zone at St. Louis Mills.
McDonald was injured on the final play of the Blues’ 2-1 overtime loss to Edmonton on Dec. 4. While entering the offensive zone with the puck, McDonald fell and was hit by the knee of Oilers forward Shawn Horcoff.
The Blues have already lost four players to a concussion this season. Cam Janssen and Carlo Colaiacovo have returned from concussions, while David Perron is still recovering.
“It should be familiar territory for us,” Payne told the Associated Press prior to Sunday’s game at Vancouver, the team’s first without McDonald. “It’s just another situation where we have to band together and be very good as a group.”
