KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMOX) - The former girls track coach at St. Joseph’s Academy in Frontenac pleaded guilty Wednesday to child porn charges.
32-year-old Kurtis W. Neely entered his plea in a federal courtroom in Kansas City, because he now lives in Raymore, Missouri.
By pleading guilty, Neely admitted that on August 18, 2009, he discussed sexually explicit matters in an Internet chat room with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.
He was caught masturbating on a live webcam during the chat according to Beth Phillips, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.
In reality, Neely was communicating with an undercover Maryland Heights police officer.
Investigators seized Neely’s computer and found a video of child pornography that was recorded during a live feed from an Internet chat room.
Neely’s facing a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in federal prison, and could receive a term of up to 20 years along with a $250,000 fine.
