Text messages at center of Coleman hearing Monday
WATERLOO, Ill. (AP) - A judge in southwestern Illinois will hear arguments over whether text messages by a woman later found strangled with her two sons may be used against her husband, who is now accused in the killings.
Christopher Coleman’s attorneys are trying to block Monroe County prosecutors from using the texts Sheri Coleman sent to friends about marital problems before the May 2009 killings in the family’s Columbia home.
Prosecutors say she also intimated that her husband physically abused her and wanted out of the marriage to focus on his job as security chief for the Joyce Meyer Ministries.
Coleman has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to stand trial in February.
