KANKAKEE, Ill. (AP) — The terminally ill wife of convicted former Gov. George Ryan is in good condition at a Kankakee hospital.
Riverside Medical Center spokeswoman Natalie Sehgal says Lura Lynn Ryan is to be released from the hospital Wednesday.
Sehgal didn’t know when the former Illinois first lady was admitted. She says she was in good condition.
George Ryan’s attorneys have said his wife of 54 years has a terminal lung disease and has only one or two years to live.
His attorneys have cited her illness in arguing there’s urgency to the request to release the ex-governor while the judge considers a motion to throw out parts of his 2006 conviction.
The 76-year-old former Republican governor is due for release in 2013.
