Car crashes into Missouri mall, injuring shoppers
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Holiday shoppers in Missouri got a frightening surprise when a car crashed into a mall.
The Columbia Tribune reported that the driver was an elderly woman who apparently suffered a medical emergency Saturday afternoon before driving into a J.C. Penney store at the Columbia Mall.
Columbia fire Capt. Eric Hartman says fire crews found the car resting about 100 feet inside the store.
Broadcaster KOMU reported that six people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, including two children.
Witness Joe Johnson told KOMU that one man was pinned against a wall after the car crashed through racks of coats. Shoppers rushed to help the man, who sustained minor injuries to his knee and cuts to his face
Damage estimates were not immediately available.
