ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A St. Louis University graduate student wants those who’ve experienced a pat-down at any of the nation’s airports to share their experience.
Eric Sucher says he got the idea during a recent trip to California. “I watched a guy getting a pat-down, who really didn’t seem very pleased.” Sucher said.
He and his sister-in-law came up with the site: www.rateyourpatdown.com.
“I thought it would be good for people to rate their pat-down just like they would a restaurant. If you had a great experience with a pat-down with a Transportation Security Administration agent we want to hear about it, if you had an awful story then tell your story.”
Sucher has not personally been through the experience but said he understands the frustration: “For a lot of people I think the issue is that during a pat down they don’t have control of the situation.”
The site launched on Tuesday and word spread quickly. Some posters felt they could have been searched more throughly. Others felt they were violated.
Sucher insists there is no agenda. The information will not be used outside the web site for any purpose. He has no plans to submit results or comments to the T.S.A.
“We do hope it gets national publicity and maybe T.S.A. will get wind of it and it will hold them accountable.”
