O'Fallon smoking ban headed to ballots
O’FALLON, Mo. (AP) — The fate of a proposed smoking ban in the St. Louis suburb of O’Fallon will be decided by voters.
Members of the city council could have passed the ban themselves. The council voted to place the issue on the April ballot.
People on both of the issue spoke out at a public hearing on Wednesday. The proposal would ban smoking in all O’Fallon bars, restaurants and most enclosed public places.
Several other St. Louis-area towns have adopted smoking bans in recent years. A St. Louis County ban goes into effect on Jan. 2.
