Snow moving in, when should you head out?
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) With snow expected to move into the area on Christmas Eve, Weather Channel Meteorologist Geoff Maurer is suggesting that those who will be driving somewhere for Christmas, leave today.
Maurer says the snow is expected to move into the St. Louis area early tomorrow and increase during the afternoon.
He says snow is going to start falling to our north and northwest later tonight, “Those areas may pick up a little more accumulation, maybe three to five inches falling across that I-80 corridor.”
Maurer says the winter weather is expected to hit to our south, towards the Ozarks, Memphis and northern Mississippi and Alabama, late on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day.
He says there may be a little sleet or light freezing rain mixed in with the snow, but the air should be cold enough that it will only snow, “We don’t have any winter weather advisories issued for our area or areas to our south, but that may change later today as we head towards the evening.”
If it does change we’ll let you know on KMOX and at KMOX.COM.
