SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Sheila Simon has visited the state Capitol in Springfield for the first time as Illinois’ lieutenant governor-elect.
The Southern Illinoisan reports that Simon visited the Capitol earlier this month and was shown her office space. Simon tells the newspaper the visit to the Capitol “makes it very real.” Democrats Simon and Gov. Pat Quinn won election on Nov. 2.
Simon is a former Southern Illinois University law professor. When she stepped into her new offices she said, “pretty fancy.” Simon will be sworn in Jan. 10 as Illinois’ 46th lieutenant governor.
Simon will have offices in Carbondale, Chicago and Springfield.
