East Alton missing man case ends tragically

EAST ALTON, Ill. (AP) — An autopsy has been scheduled for a 71-year-old East Alton man who was reported missing last weekend.

Police found the body of Charles Yost on Thursday in a brick-enclosed dumpster area near a vacant restaurant. The body was found near Yost’s home.

Authorities tell the Belleville News Democrat that an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

East Alton police say there were no signs of trauma to the body and the death doesn’t appear suspicious. Yost was last seen by his wife on Sunday afternoon.

Police had expressed concerns for Yost because of the cold temperatures this week and because he had a history of medical problems.
