KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) –  Storms that prompted tornado warnings across a wide swath of southwest and central Missouri left several damaged buildings and threw boats and boat docks around Table Rock Lake.

The National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Runnels, says an apparent tornado touched down near the airport in a remote part of Fort Leonard Wood Friday morning.

He says preliminary reports indicate injuries and some structures damaged, but the extent of the damage is not immediately clear.

Stone County emergency management director Tom Martin says storms hit that county about midnight Thursday, damaging at least 10 homes, destroying or severely damaging several boat docks and leaving boats floating on Table Rock Lake. He said no injuries were reported after the storm.
