TOWN & COUNTY, MO (KMOX)- “It’s alderman like you who should be shot.” That phrase, in an email sent to a Town and County alderman, has a fellow alderman facing censure tonight.
The message was sent to alderman Fred Meyland-Smith last October, after Meyland-Smith voted to allow hunting to combat the town’s deer overpopulation. It read, in part : “Alderman Smith…You should be ashamed of yourself. The deer are what make Town and Country such a nice place to live. It’s aldermen like you who should be shot.”
Alderman David Karney says he didn’t send the email, but admits it was sent from his office computer under an alias he had used in sending previous emails to city officials and citizens.
St. Louis County prosecutors have decided not to press charges.
