ST. LOUIS, MO. (KMOX) – On this Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Americans are being called to do something different.

Along with remembrance, Community leaders want you to keep the spirit of the Civil Rights leader alive all year long.

CEO of the Corporation for National Community Service, Patrick Corvington is challenging everyone to do a little extra in memory of Dr. King.

“We’re encouraging people to make a commitment to 25 acts of service this year,” Corvington said.

Those acts can be relatively small.  Corvington says reading to a child, helping the elderly, or volunteering with a church or a non-for-profit, means more than you think.

You can go to their website at MLKday.gov to get started.
