ST. LOUIS (AP) — Delroy James scored 21 points, including the go-ahead basket with 2:58 to play, and Rhode Island defeated Saint Louis 59-57 on Wednesday night.
James’ basket gave the Rams (13-7, 4-2 Atlantic 10) a 55-54 lead, and Will Martell’s three-point play with 18 seconds left iced the victory in a tight game in which neither team led by more than five points.
Marquis Jones added 13 points for Rhode Island. Martell had a team-high eight rebounds.
Jordair Jett scored 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting for the Billikens (7-12, 2-4). Kyle Cassity scored 11, making a 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining for the game’s final points.
