Mo Landline Phone Customers Picking Up Higher Rates

Megan Lynch

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) – If you have a regular phone line in your home or business you’re dialing up bigger bills than in the past.

Missouri regulators just finished a study that shows the average rate for residential landline phone customers shot up 49-percent from $11.49 a month in 2007  to $17.11 a month in 2010.

For business customers the increase was a more modest 15-percent.

The Public Service Commission cautions consumers that telecommunications services are increasingly being “bundled” together making it harder to calculate the basic local rate.
