Stan Musial, No Stranger to the White House

Bill Reker

WASHINGTON (KMOX) – When Stan Musial receives his Presidential Medal of Freedom it wont be his first time to the White House.

His grandson, Brian Schwarze, says ‘Stan the Man’ has been to the White House 13 times, invited by every President since Eisenhower.

Schwarze says Tuesday’s ceremony at the White House for Stan Musial could easily be a three-hour affair.

Schwarze, who will be with Stan, says they will arrive at 11 A.M. some 2 1/2 hours before the ceremony.

He says his grandfather will first be interviewed for the White House archives prior to the public ceremony.

Schwarze says there will also be a White House after-party.

I am stan’s granddaughter and I was listening to your show and it’s the medal of freedom not medal of honor!

Here’s to Stan Musial, our hometown hero, who happens to be a universal legend as well! We are so proud of you and thank you for exemplifying decency, honor and good sportsmanship.
