Annual Career Fair Features More Employers, Higher-Paying Jobs

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  Growing evidence that the local jobs picture is brightening, with some of that on display at a career fair in St. Louis County Wednesday morning.

Chris Hodge, vice-president with Job News, tells KMOX News that last year at this time they had twenty employers looking to hire new workers.

“This year we’re up to thirty employers,” he points out.

Hodge says they’re in the market to hire a wide range of employees.

“Service jobs, people looking to hire for industrial, clerical,” he says.  “We’re finding a lot of people hiring management and sales, whereas that seemed to really slow down about a year ago.”

The career fair runs 10 am to 2 pm Wednesday at the Doubletree Hotel at Westport Plaza.

I believe a job fair might better serve all of the people if it were held on a Saturday, thereby allowing those that are partially-employed and under-employed to attend. I know a Spanish teacher that is grossly under-employed at this time. She has taught all levels of school from K-12th grade.

    Thank you for this information.
