Police Look for Man who Killed National Guard member

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Police in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson are seeking help in finding the person who killed a member of the Missouri Army National Guard.

KSDK-TV reports that 32-year-old Lawrence Valiant was preparing for deployment to Afghanistan when he was shot to death Sunday night outside his apartment in Ferguson.

Relatives say Valiant had lived in the apartment for just two or three weeks. They believe he was arriving home when he was shot. He had been working at a National Guard armory earlier that evening.

Valiant was a military cook from the 1035th Company out of Jefferson Barracks.

Police say they have no motives or suspects.
