Woman Accused of Embezzling from Port District

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A woman is accused of embezzling as much as $15,000 from the southwestern Illinois port district for which she worked.

Madison County prosecutors on Thursday charged 47-year-old Anna Horn of the Edwardsville area with a felony theft count.

Authorities say Horn was an employee of the Tri-City Regional Port District when the alleged theft of what a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office says was $10,000 to $15,000 took place.

Granite City Police Chief Richard Miller tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the port district’s management discovered the alleged theft and contacted police.

Horn does not have a listed home telephone number. It was not immediately clear if she has retained an attorney.
