ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. played his entire career —21 seasons— for the Baltimore Orioles.

So, he understands what Cardinal standout Albert Pujols is going through in talks to remain in St. Louis through the end of his career.

Ripken tells KMOX News he thinks Pujols made the right decision in suspending negotiations, once he arrived at Spring Training, “I don’t read anything into the intent. I think he’ll address it once the season is over. I’m a firm believer that good things happen to good people. I can’t see Albert playing outside the Cardinal uniform.”

Ripken says he once left contract negotiations open during a season and it hampered his play.

Ripken was in St. Louis County over the weekend for a coaching clinic at Maryville University.
