ST. LOUIS CO. (KMOX)-Investigators say the man whose body was found in his burning south St. Louis County duplex this morning did not die in the fire.

St. Louis County Police Officer Rick Eckhard tells KMOX that 40-year-old Mark Woods, who was disabled, was murdered in his home on Kinswood Lane, “We have no suspect information. There was no vehicle information that we know of. We really can’t release too many details about the crime or the fire itself because they’re really only known by us and whoever’s responsible for this.”

Mehlville Fire Protection district Chief TIm White says firefighters found Woods’ body under a blanket, and knew right away it was a crime scene.

He says it appears an accelerant was used to start and spread the fire.

If you have any information on the killing, call Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
