ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOX) – Interstate 70 commuters in St. Charles, get ready for some major traffic headaches starting in 2012.
MoDOT plans to close down one of the two spans on the Blanchette Bridge for up to a year.
The 140,000 daily drivers heading west who use the bridge are going to be faced with some major delays.
The work will require MoDOT to expand eastbound I-70 on the Blanchette to six lanes — three in each direction — while the westbound lane is shut down.
Cost of the project is set at $60 million.
An exact date for the closure has yet to be determined.
