ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Having fun and raising money for the Operation Food Search food bank — those are the goals of competitors in this weekend’s “Idiot-a-rod” races downtown.
The Partnership for Downtown St. Louis models this annual event after ones held in other cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
Teams of five dress up and push decorated shopping carts along a marked course, stopping at checkpoints and taking part in challenges to win prizes.
The “Idiot-a-rod” is patterned after the Alaskan dog sled race, the Iditarod.
