ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The former office manager for a St. Louis health provider is charged with skimming from patient accounts.
62-year-old Susan Hampe of Des Peres was arrested Tuesday on charges of mail fraud and theft of mail.
Federal prosecutors says Hampe was working as the office manager of Health Center in St. Louis County when the alleged violations occurred.
Between May 2008 and May 2010, Hampe’s accused of embezzling insurance payments that were meant for patients of the medical practice.
She allegedly forged the signature of a member of the medical practice on the check and indicated the payee wished to sign the proceeds over to her.
Hampe then reportedly deposited the checks into her own accounts.
If convicted on all counts, Hampe faces up to 50 years in prison and $1 million in fines.
