Jennings Turns Police Control Over To St. Louis County

JENNINGS, Mo. (AP) –   A suburban St. Louis town is turning over police duties to St. Louis County.

The Jennings City Council voted 6-1 Monday to contract with the county for police service.

The contract begins March 12.

One member of the council, Yolanda Fountain-Henderson, abstained in the vote.

She filed a lawsuit last month in an effort to block the contract.

Jennings’ former police chief retired in November amid an investigation into possible misuse of funds.
