CHESTERFIELD (KMOX) – Parents of Parkway school students will have to re-set their alarm clocks this fall.
Board of Education members approved new starting-and-ending times Wednesday night.
“While no solution is going to be optimal for everyone, the research has been done and changing the times seems to be the best solution for our students,” one parent commented. Another said, “It doesn’t make sense. Is Parkway looking to reduce overall test scores for high school students?”
Those in high school will starting earlier, according to the new plan. Middle schoolers, on the other hand, will start about an hour later.
Elementary kids will have a longer day, to match with the two others.
The moves streamline the bus schedule, which board members say will save the district money. They also point to similar schedules at neighboring districts.
