Two Illinois Teens Electrocuted While Trying to Save Animal

OKAWVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) –  Two teens trying to help free a trapped animal paid for it with their lives.

It happened Thursday night near Okawville in Washington County.

According to witnesses, 19-year-old Nicholas Bledsoe and 18-year-old Justin Eldridge were working on a farm just before 9 pm when they noticed a raccoon enter a 30-foot long aluminum pipe.

They raised the pipe up to try and free the animal and it came into contact with an overhead power line.

Both teens were electrocuted and pronounced dead at the scene.
