Porn Past Forces Parkway North Teacher To Quit

ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) –  A Parkway North High School teacher’s past involving the adult entertainment industry has caught up with her and now she’s unemployed.

You’d think it wouldn’t necessarily be a secret after Tera Myers appeared on Dr. Phil where she talked about her days in the porn industry, but then again it’s not something you’d put on youir resume.

Ms. Myers resigned her position as a science teacher after a student found one of her acting clips on an internet porn site last Friday.

Myers admits she was active in the industry 15 years ago and also conceeds that was a mistake that haunts her today.
Her past also caught up with her five years ago while she was teaching in Paducah, Kentucky.

Parkway North administrators say they didn’t know about her previous job until the student brought it to their attention.

Administrators aren’t saying much about the student cruising tjhe internet allegedly looking for you know what.

It was 15 years ago and she has proven the desire to change her life. Shouldn’t the school look at her performance as a teacher and at the same time show that people can change for the better and everyone deserves a second chance?

Our society makes it too hard for people to change, e.g. how hard it is for a convicted felon to get a decent job? This perpetuates a vicious cycle and recidivism for the prison systems.

I don’t see what this has to do with her teaching ability. As a society we accept much worse conduct from celebrities and elected officials.

I suppose that once word got out it would be a possible disruption in the classroom. But I don’t think the Parkway North School Board realizes what they have lost. MS Myers is in the perfect position to use any disruption knowledge of her past may cause as a life lesson about how one can overcome a poor decision.

I’m sorry that it came to this, MS Myers could teach my grandchildren any time.

I thiink the past of all news reporters and the editors and writers of the Post Dispatch should be displayed for all to see. Then they would probably stop this type of reporting,

We all have a past, Get over it.

I think she’s a bad role model for our students today. We don’t want our daughters thinking they can become porn stars one day. I completely agree that she should not be teaching..it is too distracting for the students in her class and the students will not take her seriously. Maybe she should have made better choices for herself and she would not be in this predicament .

While I agree that this situation may be quite the distraction, I would NOT consider her a bad role model. I’m sure you have made decisions in the past that you are NOT proud of, but hopefully you’ve learned from them. I know I have… Mrs. Myers just happened to have her misguided actions on film. This WILL haunt her for the rest of her life. She has turned that page in her life and made a change for the better. If anything, she is a GREAT role model for admitting to the wrong she did and turning from it. You can look until you’re blue in the face, but you will never find a perfect person.

I agree that this doesn’t make her a bad teacher, but realistically speaking, it would compromise her relationship with the students and parents. That’s probably why she resigned. It’s a tough position to be in. I feel for her and I hope she can find a way to put this behind her and get on with a career or situation where this won’t be an issue.

I graduated from Parkway North and she was a GREAT teacher. Actually, I graduated in 2007 and I knew about this long ago from some of the guys in my grade. Granted, none of them had ever seen a video, it was more of a rumor. But honestly, it never affected the way any of us students thought of her and getting taught by her was no different any of our other teachers. She was easy to talk to and very nice. We all loved her and learned a lot from her. I really hope she continues to teach.

Bad choices made will someday come back , so remember to make the right choices. If we say it is ok for her now, because she does not do that anymore, we are saying it is ok for our kids to do just as wrong to do this, or other just as long as they do right later in life? Really bad choice for her then, now deal with the choice. I would not want my child in her class room!
I am watching this now on Dr. Phil, re-run.
