Neighbor’s Tip Leads to Huge Pot Bust

ALTON, Il (KMOX)-Thanks to some observant neighbors, a man police thought was a small time pot smoker, has been arrested for allegedly being a big-time dope dealer.

Alton Police Chief David Hayes tells KMOX the 29-year-old who lived in the 2500 block of Bostwick was flying under the radar, until police got at tip at a recent Neighborhood Watch meeting, “We didn’t know much about this guy before our people there, but they developed probable cause for a search warrant.

Hayes says officers found over 60 pounds of pre-packaged cannibas, nearly $40,000, plus five handguns, some of which had altered serial numbers.

Hayes says it’s by-far the largest pot bust in his 28 year career.

The suspect has not yet been charged.
