Man with HIV Bites O’Fallon Officer

O’FALLON, Mo. (AP) –  A 20-year-old man who says he is HIV-positive faces charges for biting a suburban St. Louis police officer.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Willie Bishop was charged Tuesday with recklessly risking infection of another with HIV, which is the virus that causes AIDS, and assault on a law enforcement officer, along with misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Police say Bishop ran from his O’Fallon home on Monday when a police officer was trying to arrest him on a municipal warrant for failure to comply.

The officer caught Bishop.

Police say Bishop punched the officer in the eye and bit him on the back, drawing blood, before he was arrested.

Medical tests on the officer are under way.
