ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – In recent weeks KMOX News has brought you the story of a mom with colon cancer.

It’s now two weeks since doctors delivered the child early by C-section and performed additional surgery on the mother.

The family’s church, Harvest Bible Chapel, tells KMOX the baby boy remains hospitalized but is gaining in strength. He was slightly more than four-pounds at birth.

The mom is now home and doctors are planning the next steps of her cancer treatment.

The family has 14 other children. The father was let go from his job just days before the surgery.

The family’s pastor — a former professional opera singer — helped raise thousands in a concert to assist with medical bills. Church and community members have also shown support through meals and repairs to the family’s house.
