Woman Accused of Neglecting Horses

CARROLLTON, Ill. (AP) –  A southwestern Illinois woman is accused of neglecting horses on her Greene County property and failing to properly dispose of nine of the animals after they died.

Forty-one-year-old Stacey Kempf of Jerseyville faces 30 misdemeanor counts involving the misconduct authorities say
happened between last December and the end of last month.

The Telegraph of Alton reports the remaining 20 or so horses on the property near Roodhouse are being monitored twice a day under the direction of Greene County and Illinois Department of Agriculture, who both took part in the investigation.

Kempf, who was arrested Monday and is free on bond,
