ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A man has been charged with manslaughter in Friday’s shooting death of the owner of a home repair business.

Police say it unfolded Friday evening in the 3100 block of Ivanhoe Avenue when 74-year-old Robert Hartzell Sr. reportedly shot another man during a dispute.

A third man, 36-year-old James Blakey, ran into his nearby apartment and retrieved a shotgun.

As Hartzell was trying to drive away, police say, Blakey fired twice striking Hartzell in the head.

Blakey was later captured and now faces charges of voluntary manslaughter, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a firearm.

Bond has been set at $225,000.

The man who was shot by Hartzell is hospitalized in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the hip, chest and neck.

LETS JUST BE HONEST HERE NO NEED TO BASH A 12 YEAR OLD BOY, WHOS FATHER WAS DEFENDING EVERYONE IN THAT BUILDING AND SHAME SOME NEAR BY THAT BUILDING. ITS A SHAME PEOLE GET THERE FACTS FROM MICHELLE WHO SITS DAY AND NIGHT DRINKING. MY HEART GOES OUT TO THERE DAUGHTER THEYVE BEEN RAISING. BUT THAT WHOLE SITUATION THAT TOOK PLACE WAS STARTED BY HARTZELL. NO GUN WAS PULLED ON HIM FIRST AND HE WAS ASKED SEVERAL TIMES TO STOP WHILE SEARCHING FOR MORE BULLETS, HE DIDNT MOVE HIS CAR UNTIL THE FIRST SHOT WAS FIRED BECAUSE HE WAS NOT DONE!!! MAYBE JAMES BLAKEY SAVED SEVERAL FAMILYS FROM LOSING THERE FATHER THAT DAY.
