UPDATE: Busch quitting Board for “Personal and Health Reasons”

Kevin Killeen

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — August Busch the fourth is leaving the Anheuser-Busch InBev board of directors.

In a statement released late today,  Marianne Amssoms, VP of Global Communications for A-B InBev told KMOX:

“I understand you requested a reaction on the recent Bloomberg report on August Busch IV.   For personal and health reasons August Busch IV has decided not to seek re-election at the Annual Shareholders Meeting.”

Busch was embroiled in scandal December 19th when his girlfriend died at his St. Louis County Mansion.    That death was later ruled a accidental drug overdose.   Adrienne Martin had been taking cocaine and the prescription painkiller Oxycodone, according to the medical examiner’s report.

The 46-year old Busch has been largely out of public view since the InBev takeover in 2008.
