ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Which metro area counties have the most obese residents?
Thirty three percent of St. Louis City residents report a body mass index of 30 or more, which is considered obese. Thirty one percent of Jefferson County residents say they’re obese — that’s slightly higher than the state average in Missouri of thirty percent. 29-percent of St. Louis County and St. Charles county residents say they’re obese.
These numbers are found in the annual County Health Rankings. In Illinois — 26 percent of all adults say they’re obese — that’s the same number reported by St. Clair County. Madison County residents appear to be the leanest — with only a 23 percent obesity rate.
