Cracking Down on Crime at Troubled Arnold Hotel
ARNOLD, Mo. (KMOX) - The fate of the crime-plagued Value Place Hotel in Arnold, which city officials are threatening to close down, could be decided by midday Monday.
City officials will be meeting with the hotel chain’s national operations manager, who says he has a plan to put an end to the drug activity, burglaries, rapes and other crimes that have taken place there over the last two years.
City Manager Matt Unrein says he’s willing to listen, but cautions that it better be a good plan that will protect what he calls “the crown jewel of the community” — Arnold Commons.
“It’s home to Lowe’s and Dierbergs and Texas Roadhouse and Chili’s,” Unrein says. “And a number of other of great new businesses that have chosen to locate in Arnold, and this doggone hotel is right smack dab in the middle of them.”
Unrein says he’s been told by the hotel official that the same plan he’ll propose for Arnold has already worked at troubled hotels in Phoenix and Charlotte.
