O’FALLON, Mo. (KMOX) – Add O’Fallon, Missouri to the list of towns where cigarettes aren’t welcome in bars and restaurants.
73-percent voted yes.
Craig Boring, with the American Cancer Society, hopes it sends a message to St. Charles County leaders.
“I think they’ll see that the momentum is going that way,” he said at a gathering of supporters. “O’Fallon is really a leader in the St. Charles County area, so I think they’ll take the hint.”
O’Fallon joins Lake St. Louis as the second city in St. Charles County to enact a smoking ban.
Boring said the ban is comprehensive, without any of the controversial exceptions like those enacted in St. Louis County.
Webb City and Springfield, Missouri residents did the same, while voters in Cape Girardeau rejected a smoking ordinance.
