ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Every time severe weather moves through our area, crooked contractors are sure to follow.
That’s why a national group is in St. Louis tonight, hosting a free workshop so homeowners learn how to avoid becoming victims a second time around.
Phae Howard is Executive Director of the National Center for the Prevention of Home Improvement Fraud.
“We talk about what to do before, during and after a project,” she tells KMOX News. “Building permits, scopes of work, lien releases, scams and green energy fraud.”
Yes, she did in fact say “green energy fraud”.
“We’re finding that there are new instances of green energy fraud,” she explains, “because when people throw around nice words like eco-friendly, and energy efficient, and green scammers take advantage of those opportunities as well.”
The free workshop takes place Thursday evening at the St. Louis County Library headquarters on Lindbergh from 6 to 8pm.
