Forrest Gump’s “Lt. Dan” To Host St. Louis Concert For Wounded Soldier

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  The official announcement comes Monday, but word is out that actor Gary Sinise — perhaps best-known for his Oscar-nominated role as “Lt. Dan” in Forrest Gump — will be in St. Louis next month.

Sinise’s band, named after his character in that 1994 film, will headline a Memorial Day Weekend Concert here to raise funds for the New York-based “Stephen Stiller Tunnel to Towers Foundation”.

That group raises money to help build Smart Homes for grievously injured soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The May 27th concert here will benefit Corporal Todd Nicely.

The 26-year-old Marine from St. Louis stepped on an IED in Afghanistan just over a year ago, and is one of only three surviving quadruple amputees from recent overseas conflicts.

Corporate sponsors have been secured so that money from every ticket sold for the local concert will go toward construction of a Smart Home for Cpl. Nicely.

Details of the concert will be revealed Monday, and Sinise himself will be in town with the Patriot Guard Riders.
