O’FALLON, Ill. (AP) – A Metro East high school teacher suspected of exchanging inappropriate text messages with a
student has been fired as police investigate the matter.
The school district has not publicly identified the O’Fallon Township High School teacher.
The district says in a statement obtained by the Belleville News-Democrat that police notified of the texts by school
administrators have said the investigation so far has not revealed any information that a crime was committed.
The district says it immediately removed the teacher from the classroom and investigated the rumored texting, and that the student admitted to the electronic messaging.
The school system isn’t commenting further, saying it’s a police and personnel matter.
