“Uhl’s Law” Passes Illinois House

Brian Kelly

SPRINGFIELD, Il (KMOX)- A day after the Illinois Senate passed a bill preventing state employees from receiving workers’ compensation for injuries suffered while committing a crime, the Illinois House has passed a similar measure.

The act referred to as “Uhl’s Law” stems from State Trooper Matt Mitchell’s efforts to receive compensation for injuries suffered in the high-speed accident that killed Jessica and Kelli Uhl.

Mitchell, who pleaded guilty to reckless homicide, had his workers’ compensation claim denied, but is appealing.
