UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOX) – A 21-year-old is charged with assaulting a St. Louis police officer, during a disturbance last weekend in the Delmar Loop.

Chicory Griffin is jailed on 75-thousand-dollars bond, and is charged with felony third degree assault and resisting arrest.

Near the Delmar Loop Metro-Link station last Saturday, Griffin was one of a mob of about a hundred teens and young adults, police say. An officer trying to break up the group suffered minor injures.

It’s just one of several sometimes violent disturbances that sent business owners begging to St. Louis and University City officials for increased police (see recent KMOX coverage).

They’ll get it this weekend, along with a strict enforcement of the University City curfew. University City leaders have also put out an official statement on the disturbances; read the press release and obtain addition details here.
