CHICAGO (AP) — Three Illinois public radio stations have been awarded more than $200,000 in federal funding for digital conversion.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin says the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has approved the grants for $206,861.

The cash will be split between WBEZ-FM in Chicago, WCBU-FM in Peoria and Tri States Radio in Macomb.

Durbin says 1 million people listen to the state’s 14 public radio stations each week. And 3 million people each month watch Illinois’ eight public TV stations.

The funding is part of $350 million from Congress since 2001 for the modernization of public television and radio stations.
