Southeast Missouri Family Loses Home to Suspicious Fire
DONIPHAN, Mo. (AP) - A southeast Missouri woman already had plenty on her mind with the upcoming trial of her daughter’s alleged killer. Now, Sherrie Donnell is coping with another dose of anxiety – the loss of her family home to a fire.
Doniphan Fire Chief Fred Aldridge says the cause of this week’s fire remains unknown, but investigators consider it suspicious. Aldridge tells KFVS-TV that authorities hope to make an arrest soon.
Donnell shared the house with a daughter, granddaughter and 6-year-old son. No one was hurt, but all of the contents were destroyed.
Another daughter, Heather, was killed in 2007, and the suspect goes on trial in two weeks. Donnell says she hasn’t been able to think of anything else.
