ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — The American Red Cross is helping storm victims in about nine states including those here in Missouri.
Katie Nagus with the American Red Cross-St. Louis area chapter says they provided shelter for 44 people for nearly a week and served over 10,000 meals since the Good Friday storms a week ago.
Nagus says volunteers have also visually assessed some 1200 homes.
“They may classify the damage as either destroyed , major damage, minor damage, effected, and then that helps us when folks call the Red Cross and need assistance,” explains Nagus . “We can then look in our records to see just how much damage their homes sustained.”
Storm victims still in need of clean-up supplies including tarp and shovels, have until 5 p.m. Friday to pick them up at the Dellwood Recreation Center.
Nagus says donations are still needed as well, so the American Red Cross can continue to provide assistance free of charge.
