ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Lambert-St. Louis Airport director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge says Concourse C was so badly damaged in last Friday’s tornado that it’s now undergoing a complete structural review.
There’s a chance it might need a complete rebuild, but Hamm-Niebruegge says that likelihood appears to be very, very small.
“We do fully expect to reopen ‘C’ Concourse,” she says. “I know there’s been lots of questions, lots of answers or maybe we do something else with it. But from a standpoint of customer service and being able to have revenue generation to its fullest capacity, it’s a much better concourse.”
A final report is due by Monday or Tuesday.
Hamm-Niebruegge says a $10 million insurance check is just the first installment of many. The airport’s policy covers up to $832 million in damages.
