Second Suspect Sought in Kidnapping/Robbery
ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-The search continues for one of two men who entered a couples’ car and tried to rob them Friday night.
The victims tell police they got lost while driving from Illinois to Florissant and got off I-70, They wound up in the 3900 block of Palm, where the suspects approached their vehicle and asked for a cigarette.
As they reached for a cigarette the suspects got into their car and demanded cash. They then made the couple drive to several ATMs and banks but they were closed or the female victims’ debit card wouldn’t work.
They pulled into a gas station at East Grand and North Broadway. When one of the suspects left the woman inside alone, she told the clerk she was being robbed.
The clerk pulled a gun. Both suspects tried to run, with one of them exchanging shots with the clerk. No one was hit.
Later that evening, police found and arrested 21-year-old Trevon Ridgel of St. Louis. He’s charged with robbery, attempted robbery, kidnapping, assault and armed criminal action.
