ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Charges have been filed against the suspect in the shooting death of a longtime employee of the St. Louis American newspaper.
The St Louis Circuit Attorney’s office has issued murder charges against 18 year old Rico R. Paul. A judge ordered Paul held without bond. Police are still searching for a second suspect in the case.
St. Louis police say Paul Reiter was gunned down Monday night in his own backyard in the 5000 block of Idaho.
Police believe he was targeted because he witnessed burglars breaking into his neighbor’s home.
Reiter had been a circulation manager at the American for more than two decades.
City police activated their “Violent Offense Team” because Reiter’s death may be connected to other recent crimes. A meeting is also being held tonight for residents in the area.
