ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  It was a close call for a 10-year-old boy when a gun accidentally went off  Thursday night.

It happened in the 2100 block of Chippewa as two young children found a gun in a friend’s apartment.

While trying to put it into a drawer, the gun went off.

The 10-year-old was not struck by the bullet, but chips of drywall flew into his eye.

He’s hospitalized in stable condition.

The 20-year-old owner of the gun is expected to face child endangerment charges.
