PONTIAC, Ill. (AP) — A southwestern Illinois man ordered to spend the rest of his life in prison for strangling his wife and their two sons is in a maximum-security lockup in central Illinois, at least for now.

Thirty-four-year-old Christopher Coleman is inmate No. S11821 in the Illinois Department of Corrections, just days after being sentenced in Monroe County to life terms in the May 2009 killings in Columbia.

A corrections spokeswoman says Coleman initially will be in a cell by himself in the Pontiac Correctional Center, where his mental health and other factors will be assessed to determine how and where he’ll be imprisoned.

Coleman was convicted last week of killing his family as part of his scheme to further an affair and avoid losing his high-paying ministry security job.
